@ruwaida101 looks to me like u have no support here. for years, me and many ppl have used "inefficient" lighting, dishwashers and washing machines. And they've done a great job. So who gives a rat's ass if they're efficient or not. Just because cfls are new technolodgy doesnt make it good. cfls dont even last as long as you're told.? its scary that we got ppl like u who agree that government can impose on ppl's lives telling them what to use. I tried a CFL and they suck! They are not nearly as bright as Incandescant light bulbs! Not matter what of all the eco bullshit propaganda,? I am still going to use incandacent light bulbs! And I stocked up to make sure I still can use them!

Something that hasn't been mentioned much is that the EMF (Electronic Magnetic fields) comparison is quite scary. CFL's produce 'dirty electricity' which affects brainwaves. Normal EMF? reading for a room is about 32, CFL readings are as high at 857.

I noticed green leak from CFL without bomb or break that mercury! I decided to remove all CFL? and throw them away and go back old fashion low watt bulbs. Whew. I don't want Mercury vapor around my house. To be safe than get sick all the time because of CFL vapor

Since replacing all my bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, I haven't had to change one out in well over a year. In fact, not a single one of the CFBs have had to be replaced yet. I can't prove or disprove out much energy they might save or not save, but I've saved a lot of money since I made the switch. As for it being toxic if you break it, don't break it. Then again, my very first broke? and that was 3 years ago and I'm still alive. Go figure.

People? dont realize you use more energy if you? live in cooler climates. By Switching to CFL's you loose the heating factor of incandescents. Thus using double of what you saved in electric on gas. Not to mention Mercury, Bad color redention CRI, RFI interference, high cost, .52 power factor, Cheaper for GE and Phillips to produce them over seas than incandescent here. Lobbiest at work here. "Hey lawmakers let us help you US Gov to get rid of the stock piles of mercury you have" Hmm?

Mercury lighting has been around for many years,and all fluorescent tubes are mercury, however they are not often found in the home or for GLS . This issue is that we are forced/ blackmailed into buying these,to keep up the demand for energy(,they are not energy efficient). CFL's can give a good light,but for only slightly less power,but when you consider the high energy used to make, the toxic substance used,the radiation? they emit, the mess they make of the supply,they are not worth much.

I prefer incandescent lights because of the colors they bring out, They are not stale like CFL's. Still, I replaced all my out side, porch and garage lights with CFL's and full size Fl-Light Bulbs? because they look Cool and are more efficient.

UNLAWLEE.... LEDs are not the future lighting. its ENERGY EFFICIENT BULBS. Thats what a lot of ppl seem to not get. energy efficient incandecents are currently being made as we speak. But i agree with u on the CFLs. its very shitty and dont work well on almost ALL appliances, especially in refridgerators for the simple fact that CFLs and cold dont mix. Something that congress probably didnt? think about. Anyway, I will continue to stock up on edision bulbs until the les energy ones come out.
