@StonewallJackson26 While you're correct, most people know the colloquial term as Special Forces. The guy was asking "who is better" so I'm gonna go with he's not gonna know the difference? between SOF and SF.

@gandhicakes Green Berets are the only Special Forces in the US military. Navy Seals, Marine Force Recon,? Army Rangers, Delta Force would be considered Special Operations.

@ParkinsandLynch I think its debatable, along with the new `war om terror` if he even really existed, or, in the manifestation he was prsertented to the world as. We need a new cause, a new enemy now the cold war is done. I spent 19? years in the military, and I feel that the `war on terror` was suspect and the one event that served as the s catlyist and justifaction for it in septmeber of 2001. I guesse that makes me a `conspiracy theorist`. Finally, UKSF ARE the worlds best!

@chuyfdz97 If you want action join the Rangers lol. Still a very hard unit to get into but much "easier" than SEAL teams or CAG. Besides if you're good enough at being a Ranger you can be screened for CAG anyways. These days Rangers do much less blocking force stuff than in the 90's (A la Blackhawk Down), now because of the urban settings we keep fighting in they do a lot of HVT raids etc.? Stuff that was traditionally left to CAG/SEALs.

@Elitepoosniff US Army Rangers are actually considered Special Forces in the US Military. And the majority of 1st SFOD-D are actually recruited from the Ranger battalions. As for unit size, yes you're right they're usually small teams but even the SEALs? have gone on platoon size and larger raids. Panama being one example, Operation Eagle Claw (for Delta) being another.

@gandhicakes The US has alot of elite troops but only some are real SF like Delta and SEAL`s things like the rangers are elite but SF are small bands of the best in the world that go in to war with just 8 men, an SAS team of 9 men won against hundreds in Oman and saved the? world from what most probably would of resulted in WW3 if it had not been won.

@chuyfdz97 Different mission? capabilities. They can both do great recce and Direct Action stuff but the Green Berets are the type to go in and train foreign armies to work with them or to reach a level of independence so that US involvement is minimized. SEALs do a host of random things but much less "mentoring" style stuff than US Special Forces guys. Both share similar capabilites (Airborne trained, SCUBA trained in some cases etc) but are applied in different ways.

@Elitepoosniff Actually, there's groups above them lol...They're all amazing in capabilities but there's DEVGRU which is the best of the "regular" SEAL teams. Then there's the CIA's black ops guys, some who keep changing their damn unit name every year or two. They usually recruit the best of 1st SFOD-D and DEVGRU/SEAL teams. I'm amazed at how many levels of SF the US have. Canada has like 500~ troopers considered Tier 1 then CSOR and that's? about all that's acknowledged lol
